Sourcing construction materials from Türkiye should start with a product-compliance map, then move through supplier audit, sample control and shipping evidence. The Ministry of Trade’s Construction Products database explains that the Construction Materials Regulation covers performance declarations, CE marking, economic-operator duties, technical specifications and market surveillance.
Map the product before selecting a factory
Identify the exact product, end market, applicable standard, performance declaration and marking before requesting quotes. The Turkish official database distinguishes CE-marked construction products and national technical-specification cases. Do not assume a certificate for one product variation covers every export-market requirement.
Audit the supplier against the purchase order
Verify the legal entity, factory address, production capability, traceability, test records, quality-control owner, lead times and export history. The U.S. International Trade Administration advises buyers to investigate market conditions and carefully select partners; use a documented diligence file rather than a verbal assurance.
Control samples and the first production lot
Approve a retained sample against written specifications: dimensions, composition, finish, packaging, labelling and test criteria. Specify what happens to non-conforming goods, who pays for rework, and which independent inspection point releases the balance payment.
Plan shipment and document handover
Set Incoterms, packing list, invoice, origin evidence, inspection point, cargo insurance and destination compliance checks before production. TSE offers inspection and surveillance services on request; scope and pricing must be confirmed directly. Confirm final import documentation with the destination-country broker.
Use one decision log
Maintain a supplier scorecard, sample approval, specification version, inspection report, shipment documents and corrective actions. This protects both the buyer and the supplier when a product question surfaces after dispatch.
Is CE marking enough for every building product?
No. The applicable technical specification and destination-market rules must be checked product by product.
Should a buyer pay the full balance before inspection?
Set the inspection and release mechanics in the contract before payment; the appropriate approach depends on the product, supplier history and agreed risk allocation.
