A Lithuanian company can be part of a business-residence plan, but incorporation is not itself a temporary residence permit. The Migration Department decides permit cases; its published decision-duration page says applications of company participants, managers or shareholders must be examined on a general basis no later than four months after submission. Begin with the correct legal question
The first question is not whether a UAB can be registered. It is which temporary-residence ground applies to the individual and what the Migration Department will require for that ground. The Department explains that it makes decisions on issuing or cancelling temporary residence permits. A registration certificate, tax number or bank account does not replace that decision. Build the company before treating it as evidence
For the company layer, the public Go Vilnius setup sequence lists founding documents, a Lithuanian business address, appointment of a general manager, an accumulative account for share capital, notarisation where applicable, registration and conversion to an operating account. It gives registration as up to three business days after notarised submission, while bank timing is separately stated as two to seven days. Use the current official setup sequence to map dependencies rather than promising a same-day result.
Separate registered capital from operating money
Go Vilnius lists a minimum UAB share capital of €2,500. That is a company-law floor, not proof that the company can pay suppliers, rent, payroll, accounting or its own compliance costs. Its company-type comparison also says a UAB can have natural-person or legal-entity shareholders, while an MB is limited to natural persons. What substance should the file explain?
Substance means a coherent, documentable operating story. Prepare the activity description, ownership chain, management role, Lithuanian address, capital source, planned customers or suppliers, contracts where genuine, budget, bookkeeping plan and evidence that the business is actually being organised and run. Do not manufacture invoices, employment or activity solely for a permit file. The Lithuanian Law on the Legal Status of Aliens defines a fictitious enterprise as one established or acquired for residence permits rather than the activity stated in its incorporation documents.
Sequence the residence application realistically
Build the evidence in a logical order: ownership and source-of-funds explanation; company documents and address; capital and banking trail; operating plan and real commercial evidence; then the residence submission route and appointment. The Migration Department’s published duration is an outer procedural benchmark, not an approval promise. Check the current submission location and document list before filing because external-service arrangements and application mechanics can change.
